January 27, 2025
š Market Move:
Market Steady, Spirits Ready
Real estate might feel like a rollercoaster these days with rising interest rates, affordability concerns, and inventory challenges, but hereās some news to brighten your day: commissions are holding steady.
In a recent survey, most agents reported no major changes in commission rates compared to last year. Stateside, over half of buyer agents and nearly two-thirds of listing agents said their rates stayed the same or even ticked up slightly. Across the border in Canada, the story is even better, with over 80% of agents seeing little to no changes in their commissions.
The market also seems to be leveling out. An equal number of agents are reporting buyer and seller markets, with 40% describing conditions as balanced. While affordability remains a top concern, agents are noticing a gradual recovery in market sentiment.
The icing on the cake? A massive 81% of agents are feeling more optimistic heading into 2025, with many expecting transaction volumes to pick up. Stability in commissions and signs of balance in the housing market might just signal the light at the end of the tunnel.
If youāve been waiting for a reason to believe, this might be it. Keep your eyes on the prizeā2025 could be the year the market starts its comeback.

š Book Recommendation:
"Purple Cow: Transform Your Business by Being Remarkable" by Seth Godin ā Picture this: you're driving through the countryside, surrounded by fields full of cows. At first, you're like, "Wow, cows!" But after the 37th one, you're numb. Then BAMāthereās a purple cow. You slam the brakes, grab your phone, and tell everyone about it. Thatās exactly the point of Seth Godinās āPurple Cow.ā
This book is a slap in the face to the ordinary. Godin breaks down why blending in is a surefire way to fade into irrelevance. In todayās saturated market, being just āgoodā wonāt cut it. Youāve got to be remarkableāso remarkable that people canāt stop talking about you.
