A federal agency is cracking down on cash sales involving holding companies and trusts, requiring brokers, attorneys, and others to report suspicious activity. While typical mortgage-backed deals are already regulated, these new rules target all-cash transactions, considered high-risk for money laundering.

Starting December 2025, expect more paperwork and new business opportunities for title and closing companies as they take on the extra compliance work. But don’t get too excited—the volume of reports could make enforcement tricky.
